If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen these photos already. They’re a collection of the handmade birthday cards that I received this year. I’ve had them for the past nine days and they have provided me with so much happiness – right when I really need it.
I wouldn’t say that I have the January blahs, but I am feeling pretty low energy and I don’t like it much at all.
In that lull, it’s nice to be reminded of the love that surrounds me, the creativity that surrounds me and the talent that surrounds me.
This card is a collage that came from my friend Jane. She and I went to high school together and she has been making increasingly beautiful and more creative artwork as long as I’ve known her. I love the tiny notes and messages that I can find in the works she shares with me. They’re whispers of love between lifelong friends.
This one was a big surprise and it came from my other high school friend, Howie. Howie is a super talented artist whose drawings have been featured in several magazines and whose crochet work has been featured in on and offline galleries.
???? Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday DEER Carly…????
It wouldn’t be a special occasion without a special card made my my mom and this year’s was particularly cute.
Whenever I catch a glimpse of these cards, they put a smile on my face and that makes them gifts in themselves – gifts that just keep on giving.
